What In the World Is It?

This month’s mystery photo is not the "Blob" gone wild, but an image of a polar ice storm on Mars. That’s right . . . on Mars! The storm is more than 1,000 miles (1,600 km) across. The Hubble Space Telescope imaged the large swirling mass of clouds near the north pole of the Red Planet last April 27th. The bright surface region beneath the eye of the storm can be seen clearly.
