What In the World Is It?
A magnified wart? A melting hard candy? Well, believe it or not, what you see here is the latest, the newest, the most detailed spacecraft image of the Face on Mars. Yup, and if you now say, "Oh yah, I see it! And I still think a race of intelligent Martians built it!" then space scientists at NASA would like you to visit their padded cell for a while. They even have a special white jacket for you to wear, one with long sleeves that tie in back.
This image, taken on April 8th, 2000, (but just released) by the orbiting Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) shows little more than a crumbling mountain.
