First ‘Best-Guess’ View of Huygens Landing Site

A close up of chocolate melting? How about dark chocolate melting over white chocolate. Okay, would you believe it’s a view of the surface of Saturn’s Moon Titan? Well that’s exactly what it is. You see, on January 14, 2005, the Huygens space probe landed on Titan’s surface, which is at a chilling -180 degrees Celsius. But when the craft landed on the surface — a great scientific and engineering feat! — it did not hit with a thud but a splat!, because it landed in mud! Dark mud with “white-chocolate” pebbles that appear to have been rolled into round formations by running liquid! What a world!
